The short answer

Travel Thailand Tour is a licensed Thai tour operator based in Bangkok since 2008, holding TAT licence 11/09876. We employ 34 guides on salary rather than commission, run our own vehicles, and do not resell other operators' tours.

What we are, in one paragraph

We are an operator, not an agency. That sentence matters more than it sounds: most tours sold online in Thailand pass through three or four hands before anyone meets the traveller, and the last hand is usually a subcontractor nobody has vetted. We are that last hand. The guide, the car, the boat and the licence all belong to us, which is why we can answer for all of them.

We started in 2008 running two cars out of an office on Silom Road. The first ten years were mostly corporate and incentive work for European agencies. The direct-booking site you are reading is newer, and it exists because too many guests kept asking how to book the trips again without going through their company.

How we are structured

Thirty-four full-time guides, twenty-two drivers, a reservations team in Bangkok and small offices in Siem Reap and Hanoi for multi-country routes. Guides are salaried, not paid per booking, and they are not paid commission by any shop, restaurant or attraction. That is deliberate: the moment a guide earns from a stop, the itinerary stops being yours.

What we do not do

No elephant riding, no tiger temples, no orphanage visits, and no commission stops. Each of those is explained on its own page: how we travel responsibly.

No elephant riding. No tiger temples. No staged hill-tribe villages with an entrance fee. No shopping stops, no gem factories, no commissions. We turn down bookings that require them, which costs us revenue and is worth it.

Licences and memberships

TAT Licence No. 11/09876, issued by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and verifiable on tourismthailand.org. Member of ATTA since 2011, IATA accredited for ticketing. Full passenger insurance on every vehicle we operate, and public liability cover for guiding.

Where is your office?

128 Silom Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500. Visitors are welcome — message ahead so someone is there rather than out guiding.

How many languages do you guide in?

English as standard, plus German, French, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin on request. We confirm the specific guide before quoting, not after.

Are you the same company as the other Thailand sites?

No. There are several operators with similar names; we are Travel Thailand Tour Co., Ltd., TAT 11/09876, and nothing else is us.

How we got here

We started in 2008 with two cars, one guide and an office above a tailor on Silom Road. The first three years were almost entirely airport transfers and day trips sold through hotel concierges, which is how we learned what actually goes wrong on a tour: not the itinerary, but the ninety minutes between the airport and the hotel.

Multi-day tours came in 2012, when a family who had used us for four years asked us to plan three weeks rather than book four separate trips. We have run it the same way since: a named specialist plans the route, the same guide stays with you, and we own the vehicles rather than subcontracting them.

Today it is 34 guides, 19 vehicles, an office in Bangkok and a reservations team that answers in English. We deliberately stayed at this size. Every tour on this site is one we operate ourselves, and we turn down requests we cannot staff properly rather than sell them to another operator and take a commission.

How the money works

We quote a fixed price per person and we do not take commissions from shops, restaurants or "government gem exhibitions" — the stops that subsidise cheap tours elsewhere. That is why our day trips cost more than the ones sold on Khao San Road, and why the guide does not disappear for an hour in the afternoon.

Deposits are 20%, the balance is due 30 days before arrival, and the price you are quoted is the price you pay. If a hotel raises its rate after we have confirmed, that is our problem, not a supplement on arrival.

Tell us the trip you have in mind.

Dates, people and the one thing that must happen — we come back with a route and a real cost.
